The Committee on Honors and Awards of the Modern Language Association invites translators and publishers to compete for the sixth Lois Roth Award for a Translation of a Literary Work. Since 1999 the MLA has offered the award in odd-numbered years for an outstanding translation into English of a book-length literary work. For the competition held in 2009, translations published in 2008 are eligible. Translators need not be members of the association. The prize, which consists of $1,000 and a certificate, will be presented to the winning translator(s) at the association's annual convention in December 2009. |
