Artists from throughout Australia are invited to submit an entry to the XSTRATA PERCIVAL PORTRAIT AWARD. Entries will be exhibited at Perc Tucker Regional Gallery, Townsvilles Regional Gallery, from 4 May to 1 July 2012.

Artists may enter ONE artwork only.

The portrait is to be of a REAL PERSON. It is expected that the subject of the work has SAT FOR THE ARTIST at least once. The subject of your portrait may be someone who has captured your interest or someone who inspires you.

Your entry must demonstrate some link to Townsville. The link can be the subject, the artist or the artists history, etc, and can be direct or tenuous. This is a way of capturing history and building a collection that directly references Townsvilles stories and geographical location.

ACCEPTED MEDIA include: oil, acrylic, watercolour, pastels, charcoal, ink and/or mixed media.

Sculpture, digital media, photography and textiles are not eligible.

The acquisitive prize is $40,000.

BARRY PEARCE is the judge. Pearce was formerly the head of Australian Art and is currently (inaugural) Emeritus Curator at the Art Gallery of NSW.
