The contest permits visual art of any subject on a variety of mediums such as canvas, art paper or card using oils, acrylics, pastels, ink, pencil, collage, even cosmetics have been used in previous contests. When selecting the medium, postage requirements should be taken into consideration. Computer generated images are accepted but not photography.

Students studying at High School level, located anywhere in the world can enter the contest by uploading a digital image of their completed art work to the RotoArt Trusts website www.rotoart.org.

When the 2011-12 contest closes on 30th June 2012, the 5 judges will have access to all of the uploaded images in a secure hidden section the website.

In their own time, at any computer location, each judge will grade every entry on a scale of 1 to10. When the judges have completed grading, the entire entry field is averaged and the Chief Judge and the Curator meet to decide on calling original works to come forward for live judging by the panel.

At this stage the Curator who will have had close contact with many of the entrants, is excluded from further decision making.

Fifty entries will be selected for final judging and will be shown at the Awards Ceremony in Hamilton in October 2012. The art will then be on exhibition for sale with the proceeds going to the student artists.
